Okay, I’m not mad that Stray Kids wasn’t in Deadpool & Wolverine. I was, and then I found out that the reason they weren’t was because of scheduling, and that Ryan Reynolds had intended for them to be there.
I will never forgive Ryan Reynolds, however, for not putting the song in the movie.
These young men went to the trouble of flying to New York (to hang out in my old neighborhood of the West Village, no less) and you couldn’t spend a fraction of your millions to license the song?! You didn’t have enough Mint Mobile money for Stray Kids?! For shame, Ryan. For shame!
All jokes aside, Stray Kids hit it out of the park with this one. They filmed this on the streets of New York – they even filmed it on rooftops, in the rain! Do y’all know how hard that is?! Filming in the rain is incredibly challenging to do both safely and well – I know from experience.
Consider this a start of a petition to get Stray Kids to write music for the next Sonic the Hedgehog film. This isn’t even a bit – they’ve done League of Legends, they’ve done Deadpool and Wolverine, and Felix did Solo Leveling. Creating theme music for Shadow the Hedgehog is the only appropriate course of action now.
